When you hear Brazil, most likely you will think about Rio de Janeiro, Salvador or São Paulo, but the country has so much more to offer. There are tons of small towns and remote destinations that have their own unique history and atmosphere. Below, we listed some of the must-visit places in Brazil that you might not know!
Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul
Brazil is not only about it’s amazing beaches, it has so much more to offer, such as this tiny, quaint and woodsy village, Gramado. Located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Gramado has been voted the top destination in Brazil by TripAdvisor users. It’s a small mountain resort that has an European feeling, a little bit like a Swiss mountain village, for you to relax in the mountains, and have lots and lots of chocolate.
Foz do Iguaçu, Parana
This national park is probably one of the most famous natural wonders in Brazil. The area is over 185 thousands hectares and it is located in the State of Paraná. This park has one of the largest forest areas in South America, and there is a huge number of flora and fauna. The park is actually so big that only 0,3 % of it is open to visitors. There are many amazing waterfalls, some of them falling from as high as 72 meters. Personally, before going to Foz, I would say “it’s just a bunch of waterfalls,” but now, having been, I tell everyone “You HAVE to visit Foz!” See more on visiting Foz do Iguaçu.
Enjoy some under-the-sun time at some of the best beaches in Brazil, fit for everyone’s taste. There are numerous activities available from surfing to diving and kayaking, Ipojuca is a heaven for people looking for an active vacation under the sun.
Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais
Ouro Preto is an old colonial mining town located rather close to the city of Belo Horizonte, and surrounded by the mountains of Serra do Espinhaço. The name of the city, Ouro Preto is translated to “Black Gold” and is a World Heritage Site. The narrow and crooked streets of Ouro Preto are filled with beautiful Baroque styled buildings, and artwork by famed Brazilian artists. It’s a great place to learn about the country’s history, amidst a beautiful landscape!
Armação dos Búzios, Rio de Janeiro
Armação dos Búzios also known as Búzios, is a small sophisticated paradise, only a couple of hours away from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The city is filled with chic boutiques, 20 something pristine white beaches, yacht clubs, fine dining restaurants and on top of that the architecture is truly adorable.
