Bonito is a town located 330 km from the capital Campo Grande, with clear rivers, filled with colorful fish, huge waterfalls, caves, rocky cliffs and the Atlantic forest are just some of its charms, you can float the rivers, walking the trails and bathing in pristine waterfalls, is an example of sustainable tourism with the preservation and exploitation of nature responsibly.

If you want to spend a week in a gorgeous setting, filled with accessible activities for you and your fellow travelers, here’s an idea as to what you can enjoy while traveling with us to Bonito, in the Brazilian Pantanal.

  • Day 1 – Arrival in Bonito

    Reception at Campo Grande airport. Arrival, and private transfer to Bonito. Check-in to selected hotel in  Bonito. Free evening.

    Day 2 – Floating Sucuri River and visit to Macaw’s Hole

    You will take a nice walk through the forest through an interpretive trail that leads to the source of the Olho D’Água River, where you’ll begin to float. The gentle currents of water will take you quietly for a ride through a fantastic underwater world, inhabited by dozens of species of fish and aquatic plants. You will be surrounded by an assortment of fish, native to the river. The tour offers mask, snorkel, clothing and neoprene boot.

    Macaw’s Hole is in a sinkhole-geological formation, resulting from the collapse of boulders that gave rise to a huge cavity – with 120m depth and 500m in diameter, where many birds began to relocate. The interior has very particular fauna and flora, with its own ecosystem, home to a large lake inhabited by alligators. In this contemplative tour, you’ll observe nature, hear an assortment of bird calls echoing in the rocky walls. During some parts of the year, you can also smell the aroma of flowers and fruits of the Cerrado.

    Both tours certified by the Safe Adventure Program (Safety Management-System).

    Day 3 – Boat trip on the Formoso River

    The boat trip on the Rio Formoso, is a great place to get acquainted with the Beautiful flora and fauna, and still feel the excitement of waterfalls and rapids. You’ll take a 5 km ride on the boat, passing through three small waterfalls, rapids, and a small 20-minute stop for swimming. This is a light level of rafting, in an inflatable boat that can fit up to 11 people, and the tour is led by a trained guide.

    Day 4 – Anhumas’ Abyss and the Jiboia Project

    Looking from above, one can’t imagine the immensity of this submerged cave, discovered in the 1970’s by a farmer’s helper. The first part of the activity, is a 3 meter abseiling descent, through a narrow slot in the ground. As you descend further, the gap widens, and a giant crater will open up under you: With over 72 meters to go before reaching the crystalline lake below, which is perfect for scuba diving and floating.

    Later on, you’ll visit the The Jiboia Project, which aims to demystify the secrets of non-poisonous snakes, as well as the environmental education that is done in the region, with the aim to decrease the indiscriminate killing of snakes in nature, and the creation of captive specimens to supply the pet market, so they’re not captivated from nature. At the Jiboia project, you’ll learn a little bit more about the life of these reptiles, and have the opportunity to touch them and take a photo holding a snake!

    Day 5 – Sol Resort and the Taboa Cachaça Factory

    After a few days of adventure, spend a guilt free day relaxing in the Municipal Spa. Located along the banks of the Formoso River, the clear waters allow for a perfectly clear view of fish for you to swim amongst. Rest, relax, river bath, and soak up the sun and nature. The Spa offers volleyball, beach soccer, a restaurant, snack bars and toilets adapted for wheelchair users.

    Later in the afternoon, head to the Taboa Cachacaria. The tour starts in a replica of the 1996 Taboa bar, where you’ll be served a shot, and told the history and evolution of the bar and the factory. During the tour, you will participate in two workshops, having an experience with clay and working with straw, and watching coated bottles and other crafts being made. You’ll also go through the garden, where you can learn about over 50 different aromatic herbs. The tour ends with a tasting of twenty varieties of Taboa cachaça and a visit to the store. Brace yourselves!

    Day 6 – São Francisco Farm 

    Spend a different day in the Pantanal, with a Photographic Safari in a special safari car to watch birds and mammals out during the day, such as deer and capybaras, in addition to alligators. You’ll also go through the Miranda Riverside forest, followed by a boat tour, where you’ll fish for piranhas, sailing along the Corixo Santo Domingo and finishing off with a visit to a century-old fig tree.

    In the late afternoon you will enjoy a Pantanal fare, by having a piranha soup.

    Tour includes lunch and a snack.

    Day 7 – Return Check out from your hotel; Private transfer to Campo Grande airport; Return flight.
